Master Bedroom Furniture

It’s your escape, your retreat, and where you spend hours every night.  The furniture that you choose for your master bedroom is something that you hope will last a lifetime, but that doesn’t mean you’re master bedroom furniture should be boring or just like your neighbor’s.  Here are some furniture ideas for your master bedroom that will make your room unique and comfortable.

  • Use an armoire style television or computer chest.  An armoire isn’t a piece of furniture just for clothes, and hiding that television during the day gives a whole new look to your master bedroom.  You can buy a specially made armoire just for viewing that will also hold your DVD player and Wii, or one that is designed as a desk if you need a home office and are tight on space.
  • Include a cozy sitting area.  Even small master bedrooms will benefit from a corner with a chair, glider rocker, or bench.  Choose a comfy chaise lounger with a fabulous fabric, or a practical leather bench for when you put on your shoes.  A bench can also double as storage for your winter blankets or pillows.
  • Don’t forget the lamps.  Whether you put sconces on each side of the bed or just choose a stylish floor lamp for the corner, the right light fixture can be a unique piece of furniture for your master bedroom.  And the light cast, whether soft upward light, light from a ceiling fan, or a spotlight, can totally change the character of your master bedroom.
  • Try a chandelier.  Instead of the traditional ceiling fan, add a classy chandelier above the bed to draw attention.  The right ceiling light will give your master bedroom furniture a whole new look and feel.
  • Include mirrors.  Adding a mirror above a dresser adds a beautiful finishing touch, but a unique mirror can become a focal point.  Try using multiple smaller mirrors in a pattern on the wall.  They will not only make your room appear larger, but they will be a conversation starter when people tour your house and will enhance the look of your master bedroom furniture.
  • Make your bed unique.  The fundamental and most practical piece of furniture in a master bedroom is the bed, but it doesn’t have to be ordinary.  Make sure you choose a unique bed set that reflects your personal style.  Whether you like simple solid colors or luxurious fabrics, bed sets are easily changed out as your style evolves.

The key to having a unique set of master bedroom furniture is to be creative and be sure to accessorize.  You don’t have to buy a matched set of master bedroom furniture.  Shop around for pieces that you can repurpose to the bedroom, and create a room full of master bedroom furniture that will make you fall asleep smiling every night.
